Heroes
Billy Bishop
Billy Bishop was born in Owen sound Ontario and took place in over 170 air battles. He shot down more an 70 aircraft's leading him to be know as an "ace". Billy Bishop revived the Victoria Cross for single handed down attack on the German airfield.
Roy Brown
Roy Brown became a hero on the Allies team in World War 1 because he got credit for shooting down the top German "ace". Billy Bishop shot down Baron Von Richthofen or the famous Red Baron with an amazing victory.
Thomas Ricketts
Thomas Ricketts from Newfoundland, claimed he was 18 and served for the Royal Newfoundland regiment when he was only 16 years of age. Thomas Ricketts received the Victoria Cross , for his bravery in battle and saving the lives of his comrades.
Sir Arthur Currie
Born in Napperton, Ontario Sir Arthur Currie participated in the militia and became brigade commander of the first troops to go overseas. He saw action at Ypres, Somme and VimyRidge before given command of the Canadian Corps.
Sir Arthur Currie was Knighted by King, George V in France in June 1917. He later became a teacher in the 1920's to the 1930's.
Georage Pearkes
Born in England Georage Pearkes emigrated to Canada , where he homesteaded on the prairies, before joining the Mounties in the Yukon. When War broke out Georage Pearkes signed up foe the army. He was presented with the Victoria Cross for his bravery at Passiondale. He also took part in World War 2.
Grace McPherson
After her boyfriend died overseas Grace McPherson was selected of one out of four to be an ambulance driver and was sent to Etaples, France were she held that position. At a time she would work more than 12 hours a day.
Francis Pegghmagahow
Francis was an Ojibwa from Ontario that received more declarations than any other aboriginal soldier. He received the Military medal and 2 bars for bravery.
